# Back up and restore your library

Save your whole library, or chosen parts of it, to one .pcbackup file. Restoring adds what a computer is missing and never replaces anything.

Where to find it: Settings › Your data › Back up

## Back up

1. Open **Settings › Your data** and choose **Back up**. The library’s storage bar has a **Back up** link too.
2. Choose **Everything**, or **Choose which** to pick by kind or down to a single video. Kinds are videos and their edits, step-by-step guides, screenshots, saved styles and your settings.
3. Press **Save backup**. The file is called PointerCam backup with the date, and ends in .pcbackup. Keep the window open until it is done.

A guide you back up brings its video with it, since it is made from it.

## Restore

1. Open **Settings › Your data** and choose **Restore a backup**.
2. Pick the .pcbackup file. PointerCam lists what the file adds that this computer is missing.
3. Choose **Use its settings too** if you want its settings as well, then **Restore**.

> **Note:** Restoring only adds. Nothing already in your library is replaced or deleted.

> **Warning:** Licence keys and the downloaded caption models are never put in a backup. Enter your key again on the new computer.
