# Add text, arrows and boxes

Callouts point things out on the video for as long as you choose: text, an arrow, a box or an icon. Add one at the playhead, then drag it into place on the preview.

Where to find it: Video editor › Pro › Timeline › + › Callouts

1. Move the playhead to where the callout should appear.
2. Press **+** on the timeline and choose **Text**, **Arrow**, **Box** or **Icon** under Callouts.
3. Drag it on the preview to place it. Type to change its words.
4. Drag its ends on the callout lane to set how long it shows.

- **Text**: Words with their own size and colour, optionally on a fill behind the glyphs.
- **Arrow**: A straight or bent line. A filled head marks a spot, an open one shows direction, and no head makes a leader line. The tail can be plain or a dot, and the line dashed.
- **Box**: A frame around something, filled with a colour wash, a frost or glass. Set its thickness to 0 for no edge.
- **Icon**: A small symbol.

- **Colour**: None, Ink, White, Red, Amber, Teal or Blue.
- **Turn** rotates it, snapping every 15°.
- Choose how it fades in and out, or **Cut** to make it appear at once.
