# Export a GIF

Choose GIF in the export sheet for a silent loop that plays inline in a chat thread, a ticket or a README. It is scaled down to keep the file small.

Where to find it: Video editor › Export › Format › GIF

1. Press **Export**.
2. Under **Format**, choose **GIF**.
3. Press **Export video**.

- A GIF has no sound.
- It is downscaled to at most 960 pixels across, at up to 15 frames a second.
- For a short clip, trim the video first, or export one piece. See [Export one piece](https://pointercam.com/help/export-one-piece).

> **Tip:** The Bug report starter style is set up for GIFs. See [Styles](https://pointercam.com/help/styles).
