# Export a video

Press Export, pick MP4 or GIF, a quality, a frame rate and a file size, then Export video. The file is made on your computer and saved to your Downloads.

Where to find it: Video editor › Export

1. Press **Export** at the top right of the editor.
2. Choose a **Format**. MP4 video: H.264 in MP4. Plays in Slack, Notion and Keynote. GIF: A silent loop, for a chat thread or a README.
3. Choose a **Quality**. 720p, 1080p, 4K. Each tile shows about how big the file will be. 4K is Studio.
4. Choose a **Frame rate** and a **File size**.
5. Press **Export video**. The preview plays the frames as they are made. Keep the tab or window open until it finishes.

Frame rate:

- **30 fps**: Standard, and what the free plan exports.
- **60 fps** (Studio): Smoother motion, for scrolling and camera moves. Studio.

File size:

- **Full detail**: Every frame at full detail. The biggest file.
- **Balanced**: Full detail whenever the picture holds still, lighter only while the camera moves. About a third smaller.
- **Small**: Text a little softer, about half the size. For email and chat upload limits.

## More options

**More options** in the sheet opens the full export dialog, with:

- **WebM**: VP9 in WebM, which plays everywhere Chrome and Firefox do.
- A still image of the frame on screen, at the full output size.
- **Also save a subtitle file**: an .srt beside the video.
- **Ask where to save each export**, instead of saving to Downloads.

> **Note:** Renders on this device. Nothing is uploaded. On the free plan, exports are up to 1080p at 30 fps and videos up to 10 minutes long.

> **Tip:** In the Mac app, the finished file is shown in Finder.
