# Make your first video

Start a take, work the way you normally would, and press Stop. The video opens in the editor already zoomed in on your clicks, ready to export.

**In the Mac app:**

You can also press `⌘N` while PointerCam is the app in front.

**In the Chrome extension:**

To record more than one tab, pick **Window** or **Screen** in the popup before you press Record.

## After you stop

The first time, the editor opens in **Simple** mode. Its column lists what PointerCam already did, such as the zooms made from your clicks, and offers anything it found, such as long pauses you might want to remove.

1. Look through the take with the play button, or press `Space`.
2. Pick a background and a frame under **Look**, if you like the take dressed up.
3. Press **Export** at the top right. Choose MP4, WebM or GIF, then **Export**. The file is made on your computer and saved to your Downloads.

> **Tip:** For a step-by-step version of the same take, open the take’s menu in the library and choose **Make a step-by-step guide**. See [Make a guide](https://pointercam.com/help/make-a-guide).

[Getting started](https://pointercam.com/welcome) shows these steps playing, for the Mac app or for Chrome.
