# Keep a guide and its video together

Each step says where it plays in the video as you edited it. The guide’s web page can link each step there, and the video can take its chapters from the guide.

Where to find it: Guide editor › Under the picture › In the video

## Where each step is in the video

Beside a step’s title, a tag like **0:35 in the video** says where that step plays in the video after your trims, cuts, speed changes and moved pieces. Press it to open the video editor at that moment.

A step whose moment you cut from the video says **Not in the video**, and stays in the guide. On the guide’s timeline, what the video leaves out is hatched, as on the video’s own timeline.

## Link each step to the video

1. Put the video where people watch it: YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, or a file on your site.
2. In Simple, paste its address under **Document**, in **Video link**. In Pro, it is under **Web page**.
3. Download the guide as a **Web page** or **Markdown**, or press **Copy**.

Each step the video shows gets a link, like **In the video at 0:35**, that plays from that second.

## Chapters for the video

When the whole video is exported and it has a guide, the finished screen offers **Copy chapters**: one line a chapter, like 0:00 Sign in, ready for a YouTube description. Chapters start where the guide’s sections start, or its steps in a guide of one page.

> **Note:** YouTube shows chapters only when there are at least three, each 10 seconds or longer, so a short video may have none to offer.

> **Note:** A take recorded only for its guide has no video yet. Press **Make a video** in the guide editor to make one.
