# Install the Chrome extension

Add PointerCam to Chrome, pin it to the toolbar, and allow your microphone. A welcome page walks you through it and ticks each step off as you go.

1. Open the [PointerCam download section](https://pointercam.com/#download) and choose **Add to Chrome**. Chrome asks you to confirm. Choose **Add extension**.
2. Chrome opens PointerCam’s welcome page. It has five short steps, and each one ticks itself off when it is done.
3. Pin PointerCam to your toolbar. Click the puzzle piece at the top right of Chrome, then the pin beside PointerCam. Its button now stays in the toolbar, one click away on any page.
4. Turn on your microphone. Chrome asks once. You can skip it and turn it on later from the popup. The same step turns on your camera too.
5. Record your first take, then open it in the editor. The welcome page offers a tab take and a screen take. Either one is fine.

## What the welcome page asks

- **Choose your look.** Light, dark, or the same as your computer. You can change it later in Settings.
- **Pin PointerCam to your toolbar.** The step ticks itself the moment the button appears.
- **Turn on your microphone.** Chrome shows its own question. Nothing records until you press Record.
- **Record your first take.** A tab on any website, or your screen or a window.
- **Open it in the editor.** Your take is waiting in the library.

> **Tip:** Missed the welcome page? Click PointerCam in the toolbar and press Record. The popup offers to set up the microphone before your first take.
