# Join steps into one

Join a step with the next to make one step that does both. When the page moved between them, choose how their pictures lie together in the guide.

Where to find it: Guide editor › Over the picture › Join with the next step

1. Open the first of the two steps.
2. Press **Join with the next step** in the top corner of its picture. The step now does both, like Click “Team”, then click “Invite”, with both steps’ words.

- When nothing moved between them, one picture shows both clicks, marked 3.1 and 3.2.
- When the page scrolled or changed, each keeps its own picture. The strip and the timeline number them 3.1 and 3.2, and the step prints both, one after the other.
- Numbered marks read 3.1, 3.2 and so on, and the spotlight lights each one.

## How a joined step’s pictures lie together

To print a joined step’s pictures as one picture, press **Pictures** above its picture. The panel shows the step’s own pictures in each layout as you point at it.

- **Separate**: Each picture on its own, after its own words. A joined step starts this way.
- **Side by side**: Two or three in a row, on one background.
- **Stacked**: One under another, each at full width.
- **Two across**: Four or more, two to a row.
- **Large on top or on the left**: The first picture large, with the rest below it or beside it. For three or four pictures.

## Split a joined step

Press **Split** in the same corner. The steps it was made from come back as they were.

## The same thing, clicked twice

When two steps click the same thing a moment apart, Simple offers to tidy them: **Make them one**, **Show me**, or **Make each one** to keep both.
