# Make a step-by-step guide

Any take with clicks can become a guide: one numbered step per click, each with a picture and a line saying what was clicked. Start it from the library or the editor.

Where to find it: Library › ⋯ › Make a step-by-step guide

1. In the library, open a take’s **⋯** menu and choose **Make a step-by-step guide**. Or, in the video editor, open **⋯** and choose **Step-by-step guide**.
2. The guide editor opens with a step for every click. Each step already has its picture and, where PointerCam could read it, a line like Click “Billing”.
3. Read through the steps, change any words, then press **Download**.

To make a guide from the start, choose **Guide** before you record. See [Record a guide instead of a video](https://pointercam.com/help/record-a-guide).

## What you get

- A step for each click, framed close enough to read the screen’s own text.
- A marker on what was clicked, and the rest of the picture lightly dimmed.
- A closing step showing where the task ended up.
- Sections named after the pages the steps are on.
- Anything hidden in the video stays hidden in the guide.

> **Note:** A video you imported has no clicks, so it cannot become a guide.
