# Add arrows, text, shapes and icons

Pick a tool from the bar under the picture, then click or drag on it: text, an arrow, a rectangle, an ellipse or a star, a numbered step, an icon or an image.

Where to find it: Screenshot editor › Tools

1. Pick a tool on the bar under the picture, or press its key.
2. Click or drag on the picture. The tool places one thing, then goes back to Select.
3. Change it in the column: its words, colour, size and style.

- **Select `V`**: Pick, move and resize what is on the picture.
- **Text `T`**: Words with the typeface, weight and alignment you choose, on an optional plate.
- **Arrow `A`**: Straight or bent, with a head and a tail of your choice.
- **Shape `S`**: A rectangle, an ellipse or a star. The Shape button offers all three and remembers the last one you used.
- **Step `N`**: A numbered badge. See [Numbered steps](https://pointercam.com/help/step-badges).
- **Icon `I`**: A small symbol.
- **Blur `R`**: Blur or pixelate part of the picture. See [Blur or cover part of a screenshot](https://pointercam.com/help/redact-a-screenshot).
- **Image**: Places a picture of your own: a logo, a cutout or a watermark.
- **Crop `C`**: Opens the crop. See [Crop a screenshot](https://pointercam.com/help/crop-a-screenshot).

**On the picture** in Simple lists everything you added. **Take everything off the picture** removes it all, and `⌘Z` puts it back.
