# Hide passwords and private fields

In Chrome takes, PointerCam notices password, email and key fields as you record, and the editor offers to cover each one for exactly as long as it shows.

Only in the Chrome extension. The Mac app does not look for private fields as you record. Cover anything private yourself with [Blur, pixelate or cover something private](https://pointercam.com/help/hide-private-parts).

Where to find it: Video editor › Simple › Suggested

Nothing is hidden while you record. The take keeps everything, and the editor offers the covers, so you can check each one and change it.

1. Record a take in Chrome as usual.
2. In the editor, look under **Suggested** in the Simple column. A card says **Hide 2 sensitive fields**, with the number it found.
3. Press **Cover them**. Each field gets a cover that follows it as the page scrolls, for as long as it is on screen.
4. Play the take through and check.

## What it looks for

- **Password fields.** The page says what they are, so these are always found.
- **Email and username fields.**
- **Fields named like keys and codes**, such as API keys, tokens, one-time codes and card security codes. This is a guess from the field’s name and label, so it can miss one or flag one too many.

> **Warning:** It can only see form fields. A key pasted into a paragraph, printed in a terminal or shown in a picture is not found. Always watch the take before you share it, and cover anything else with [Hide something](https://pointercam.com/help/hide-private-parts).
