# Use your own pointer

Upload a PNG, or a GIF that plays, and it becomes the pointer: your logo, a pencil, a laser dot. Then click the spot it points from.

Only in the Mac app. Chrome records your real pointer as part of the picture, so the editor cannot change how it looks or moves. In a Chrome take you can still [show your clicks](https://pointercam.com/help/click-effects) and [spotlight the pointer](https://pointercam.com/help/spotlight).

Where to find it: Video editor › Pro › Cursor › Pointer › Your own

1. Open **Cursor › Pointer** in Pro and choose **Your own**. Pick a PNG, or a GIF that plays.
2. In the pointer’s square, drag the picture to move it and scroll to size it.
3. Click where it points. That spot is where its clicks land and what follows the recorded pointer. The arrow keys move it a pixel at a time.

- **Fit**: The tightest square around the picture.
- **Tip**: Points from the top of the picture, where an arrow or a finger points.
- **Centre**: Points from the middle, for a dot, a ring or a crosshair.
- **Size**: How big the picture sits in its square. 100% is the tightest fit.

A picture can stand in for the whole pointer, or for one moment only, such as over links. See [Pointer shapes](https://pointercam.com/help/pointer-shapes).

> **Note:** Your picture is read on your computer and never uploaded. A saved style keeps it, and so does a style you share as a file.
