Terms of Service
Last updated October 12, 2026The agreement between you and us for using PointerCam and for buying Studio.
1.About these terms
These terms apply to PointerCam: the Chrome extension, the Mac app, the editor at pointercam.com, and this website. By installing or using PointerCam you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use PointerCam.
PointerCam is made and operated by Rahul Pipaliya, a sole proprietor in Ontario, Canada, carrying on business under the registered business name PointerCam, Ontario Business Identification Number 1001697332 (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at support@pointercam.com.
If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must accept these terms on your behalf.
2.Using PointerCam
PointerCam records your screen, and your camera, microphone and pointer when you choose to include them, and turns those recordings into videos, guides and screenshots on your own computer.
You do not need an account. The Free plan can be used without payment, within the limits shown on the pricing page. We may change what the Free plan includes.
3.Your recordings
Recordings, projects, guides and screenshots are created and stored on your computer. We do not receive them and we do not hold a copy. You own what you make with PointerCam.
Because we hold no copy, we cannot recover anything that is deleted, removed with the extension, cleared with your browser’s site data, or lost to a disk failure. Keep backups of work that matters to you. Settings › Your data can save a backup file.
You are responsible for what you record and publish. Obtain any consent the law requires from people whose image, voice or messages you capture, and respect the rights of others in the material you record.
4.Studio
Studio is the paid plan. It is sold as a yearly subscription, a monthly subscription, or a 7-day pass. Current prices are shown on the pricing page.
4.1 Payment
Purchases are processed by Dodo Payments, which acts as the merchant of record. Dodo Payments charges your payment method, issues receipts and invoices, and collects any sales tax or VAT. Its buyer terms apply to the purchase in addition to these terms. We never receive your card details.
4.2 Subscriptions
A subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period until it is cancelled. You can cancel at any time in the Dodo Payments customer portal, which you sign in to with the email address you paid with, or by writing to us. After you cancel, Studio stays active until the end of the period you have paid for.
The price you subscribe at stays the same for as long as your subscription remains active. If we change our prices, the new prices apply to new subscriptions.
4.3 The 7-day pass
A pass is paid for once and does not renew. It starts when its licence key is first entered in PointerCam and ends 7 days later.
4.4 Licence keys
After a purchase, Dodo Payments emails you a licence key. The licence is personal to you. You may use it on the computers you use yourself. You may not share it with other people, publish it, or resell it.
While Studio is active, PointerCam confirms the licence with pointercam.com about once a day. If it cannot connect, Studio keeps working for up to 7 days offline. When a subscription ends, a pass runs out, or a payment is refunded, Studio turns off and PointerCam returns to the Free plan. Your recordings and projects are not affected.
4.5 Refunds
A subscription payment can be refunded if you ask within 14 days of it and tell us why. A pass can be refunded within 14 days of buying it only if its key has never been entered. The Refund Policy sets out the details.
5.Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use PointerCam in a way that breaks the law, including laws on recording people and on privacy;
- remove, cover or alter the PointerCam mark on Free exports, or otherwise work around the limits of the Free plan, other than by buying Studio;
- copy, modify, bypass or reverse engineer the licence checks, or share, publish or sell licence keys;
- interfere with pointercam.com or the services behind it, including by sending automated or excessive requests;
- use the report, feedback or refund forms to send spam or unlawful content.
6.Updates and changes
PointerCam updates itself. The Chrome extension is updated through the Chrome Web Store, and the Mac app downloads its updates from us. We may require an update before a feature can be used, for example to fix a security problem.
If we find a defect that could damage recordings or affect your computer, we may switch the affected feature off for a time, through a signed file published on pointercam.com, until a fix is available.
We may add, change or remove features over time.
7.Services provided by others
PointerCam depends on services we do not control, including the Chrome Web Store, macOS, and Dodo Payments, and, when a project needs them, Google Fonts and Hugging Face. Their own terms govern your use of those services.
8.Ownership
PointerCam, including its software, design and name, belongs to us. These terms give you a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use PointerCam as described here, and no other rights in it.
PointerCam includes open-source components, which are licensed under their own terms.
If you send us suggestions or feedback, we may use them to improve PointerCam without any obligation to you.
9.Disclaimer
PointerCam is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranties or conditions beyond those stated in these terms, including implied warranties or conditions of merchantable quality, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that PointerCam will be free of errors or that it will work with every website, application or device.
If you are a consumer, the laws of Ontario or of the place where you live may give you rights that cannot be excluded or limited by contract. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.
10.Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of profits, data or recordings, arising from your use of PointerCam. Our total liability for any claim relating to PointerCam is limited to the amount you paid for Studio in the 12 months before the claim arose, or US$50, whichever is greater.
11.Ending your use
You may stop using PointerCam at any time and remove the extension or the app. We may disable a licence that was obtained by fraud, that is shared or sold in breach of these terms, or whose payment was reversed. A copy of PointerCam whose licence is disabled continues on the Free plan.
12.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. A change that materially affects a paid plan applies to a subscription from its next renewal. If you continue to use PointerCam after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.
13.Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be heard by the courts of Ontario, unless the law of the place where you live as a consumer entitles you to bring proceedings there.
