PointerCam

Best for: Close-ups on your clicks and a guide, free

PointerCam’s free plan records a tab, a window or your whole screen with your microphone and camera, places a close-up on each click you make on a web page, and exports 10-minute videos at up to 1080p. The same take becomes a step-by-step guide as PDF, Word, a web page or Markdown.

Videos and guides carry a small mark that Studio removes. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no account.

PointerCam vs Tango

What each free plan leaves out

PointerCam puts a small mark on videos and guides and stops videos at 10 minutes. Cursorful is for non-commercial use and keeps your microphone and camera for Pro. Loom caps the count, the length and the resolution, and keeps downloads for Business.

Screenity’s recorder has no zooms until you pay for its editor. Scribe and Tango keep PDF exports for their paid plans.

An editor made for your first video

PointerCam opens a recording already finished: close-ups on your clicks, every click marked, ready to export. The editor starts in Simple, which shows what was done and the choices most videos make, one row each, like zoom strength, captions or the background.

The first time you open it, a short tour points out each part. When you want more, Pro lays out every setting, and ⌘K finds any of them by what it changes or by a problem you type, like “silence”.
