How auto-zoom works

Every click in your take becomes a close-up, timed to start a second before the click and pushed in between 1.5× and 2.5×. You can tune them all, or any one.

What PointerCam does with your clicks#

  • Each close-up starts a second before its click, so the camera has settled when the click lands.
  • It holds after the last click for a moment, so viewers see what the click did.
  • Clicks close together in time and place share one close-up. When they move across the screen, the camera pans instead of pulling out and back in.
  • The depth comes from how spread out the clicks are: tight work gets 2.5×, broad work keeps its context at 1.5×.
  • Fast scrolling is left alone, and typing gets a close-up that holds on the field.

Tune them in Simple#

Auto-zoom
How many zooms there are. Subtle, Balanced or Strong sets how far all of them push.
Panning
Follow pans with the pointer to keep it in the middle of the shot. Steady holds the shot and moves only for clicks, typing and where the pointer stops.
Zoom to drawings
Each drawing you made while recording gets a close-up, like a click. Only for takes with drawings.

If a take has clicks but no zooms yet, the row offers Make zooms.

Start again#

To start over with a fresh set of zooms from your clicks, typing and drags, choose Rebuild zooms from activity in Pro under Zoom & Motion › Auto-zoom, or Regenerate zooms from clicks in the timeline’s ⋯ menu.
